Karori wildlife sanctuary

This is a nature reserve and a protected area. This means that predators are held out by fences. This way no non native predators can disturb the ecological balance. Hence Karori wildlife sanctuary is home to 30 native bird species. The Karori wildlife sanctuary is 252 ha and it is a native forest. There are guided tours in daylight, and during nighttime, so the nocturnal animals can be spotted also. Some rare species are reintroduced to this sanctuary, like the kiwi.
